Hello all,
Good work this week. We have been continuing with our independent work focused on the Aztecs. This week I asked you to incorporate an overall “to do” list for your agenda. I want you to keep this at the front of your agenda so you can quickly and easily see what tasks you have to work on and what you have completed. This will aid your time management as we move forward. We also started to review, through discussion, some of the highlights of the Aztec world and worldview. We have highlighted some of the social and religious organisation and how it is similar and different than the European culture we have already examined. We have also started looking at expressing thoughts and ideas through poetry. We will continue this all next week.
Have a good weekend.

Hello everyone,

This week we have got back in the flow of school. We also set up our plan for how we are going to approach the next nine weeks. We looked at planning, organising in regards to our end goal and how to meet our goals. You have been given the package of work in regards to topic number two: The Aztecs. We will continue to work on creating a plan for the work day and following through with that plan.
Have a great weekend.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we are approaching the winter break we are preparing for the transition in a few ways. We are getting students ready for the time off from studies with some review and reflection of the year so far. When we return in January, the first term will be ending the second week back and report cards will be sent home soon after. Part of our work this week is to review with each student the year so far and making a plan for the New Year. We will also be highlighting any missing or incomplete assignments to them and want to provide the opportunity to redo or submit them before their first report card in January. Ms. Wilson and I wanted to remind you that marks are available through PowerSchool, in addition you will be able to see if any assignments are missing or incomplete. If you have any questions, concerns or if there is anything you would like us to be aware of or follow up on please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our emails are mjwilson@cbe.ab.ca and jaschultz@cbe.ab.ca. A current review of weekly tasks and work can be found on the class blogs (https://emhumanities85.blogspot.com/  and https://wilsonschultz.blogspot.com/). In addition the textbooks can be accessed through D2L.
Thank you for your support

Marla Wilson and Jordan Schultz

Hello everyone,
Good work this week. We have completed the first unit of grade 8 which is the renaissance. We completed chapter 5 and 6 which includes the reason for the Europeans to use their technology to explore the world and then what they did when they got there. You then had an opportunity to condense your previous chapters for the unit final. Again you were given a chance to see what a standardized test would look like and the opportunity to practice both a multiple choice and an in class essay. Keep in mind this is all part of the learning and skill development process. For the next week it is the last week before winter break. Your task is to be reflective on your work and school up to now and what you what to change or improve moving forward. I will speak to each of you and we will discuss this, your marks so far and how we can both improve the classroom and your learning. You will also have an opportunity to take some tasks home for the break.
Have a good weekend.
